ARTIST STATEMENT The human spirit longs to harmonize with the truth that exists in the natural world. I use the medium of bronze to communicate this truth. Compositions are formed studying from life and wrapped in a narrative that relates to emotional experiences to ensure originality. My pieces relate to the contemporaries of my time by drawing from personal and current world events. Sensitive to the unspoken forms of communication it is possible to understand truth found in the life that surrounds us. I express through a realism style. Though, I do not prefer a hyper realistic finish with every last intricate detail filled out to render a 3D photograph. My focus is on those parts of the animal that help tell an emotional story. By using Écorché an age old technique for studying anatomy I find my work expresses a tangible complexity gone unnoticed when viewing the living creature. Accuracy is important, though emotion and story telling would never be sacrificed to render what already exists. Pieces are finished in bronze, a pliable medium able to express emotions which relate to the human experience and is drawn to the beauty of the natural world around us.
