Performance In Sculpture
In partnership with National Sculpture Society, the Straz Center (Tampa, FL) presents a multi-piece art exhibit as part of the 11-12/12-13 programming seasons. Thirteen new pieces are displayed in the Ruth Silbiger Lobby of Carol Morsani Hall at the Starz Center from October 2011 through June 2013. The exhibit is open during shows in Carol Morsani Hall and during regularly scheduled tours. Special tours can also be arranged.
"This is an opportunity for us to add even more drama to our environment," said Judy Lisi, president and CEO of the Straz Center. "We're enhancing our patrons' experience even before they see the show they’re attending." As an added bonus for Straz Center audiences, the pieces are available for acquisition.
Those working on this project include the Straz Center Visual Arts Committee members Michael Urette, Ann McKeel Ross, architect James Jennewein (NSS Board Member) and Straz Center staff members, Judy Lisi, Lorrin Shepard, Michael Kilgore and Dominick Furlano. Sculptor Richard Blake and Robin R. Salmon, Vice President for Collections and Curator of Sculpture at Brookgreen Gardens, joined in the selection process.
