As a sculptor living in the Pacific Northwest, I work mostly with reclaimed wood, salvaged locally. My lifelong affinity for trees inspires most of my sculpted subjects. As human encroachment and climate change displace flora and fauna, my art strives to preserve and give voice to nature and our precious forests. To me, the beauty of a finished sculpture is as much the wood’s natural color and grain as the subject itself. I strive for simplicity of form and use only a clear finish or no finish at all in order to let the wood speak for itself.
