We encourage you to join NSS as an Associate Member to showcase your work and support the society that supports you. This is the largest membership category and the simplest to join. There is an immediate linking of your website with that of the NSS, with a gallery page including your biography and five images of your work. Including your work on the NSS website can boost your visibility and help take your work to the next level. Upon joining, you are immediately eligible to apply to exhibit in NSS Exhibitions and become a part of a community of sculptors and people who support sculpture. NSS will help you access opportunities and resources that support your art. Many sculptors choose to stay at this category and be a part of our movement to forge the future through the connection with the great American Sculptors of the past..

Sculptors with a mature body of work may apply to become Elected Sculptor Members. This is a prestigious achievement and allows sculptors to place ‘NSS’ at the end of their name to signify that achievement. The NSS Membership Committee reviews all applications for Elected Sculptor membership. Applications recommended by the committee will be put forth for a vote of the entire voting membership. Elected Sculptor Members receive all Associate membership benefits, plus the opportunity to serve on various NSS committees, voting rights in the NSS and inclusion of biographical information in our archives. Elected Sculptors are also provided with an Elected profile on the NSS website, which includes up to ten images of sculpture, website link and biography. Elected Sculptor Members also enjoy active promotion of their work across our digital platforms and can share their new work on the Members Ongoing Showcase Exhibition on our website.

Sculptor Member applications are reviewed annually. 2024 application deadline is in March.

Fellow Membership is the penultimate honor and level a sculptor can reach in the Society. Designation as a Fellow is an advancement from Elected Sculptor Membership put forth by peer nomination and the affirmative vote by the Society’s Fellows and Board Members. Fellows can place ‘FNSS’ after their name to signify this advancement. Criteria for consideration of election as a Fellow include professional mastery in the field of Sculpture, participation in the Sculpture Community, promotion of figurative sculpture and the ideals of the Society, educational contributions to Sculpture, and active participation in the National Sculpture Society. Fellows receive all Elected Sculptor Membership benefits and are provided a website profile which includes up to fifteen images of sculpture, website link and biography. Fellows are eligible to serve on the NSS Board.
