A native Coloradoan, Shelley’s exploration with all forms of art started early in life. Her journey with bronze started over 20 years ago with commissions for two monumental statues of historic figures in northern Colorado. Her education brought her into the bronze foundry: learning everything from mold making, wax and metal chasing to the patina. “I love metal. The smell of bronze and the sizzle of welding steel.”
Over the years, her work has matured into a true form of storytelling through metal. The breadth of her expression is evident in more recent works…exploring a more symbolic, contemporary expression. “I strive for my work to reflect and elevate the story; inviting the observer to join in and fill in their own blanks.”
Shelley is a member of the National Sculpture Society and the American Women Artists. Her sculptures have been purchased as public art and by private and corporate collections across the U. S. and Europe.
