Robin R. Salmon Receives Anna Hyatt Huntington Woman of Vision Award
On March 27, 2025, Robin R. Salmon, Vice President of Art and Historical Collections and Curator of Sculpture, was celebrated at an award luncheon at Brookgreen Gardens in SC. Salmon is the 2025 recipient of the Anna Hyatt Huntington Woman of Vision Award which honors a contemporary woman who embodies Huntington’s creative and philanthropic spirit and uses her gifts and vision to advance the arts. Brookgreen Gardens President and CEO Page H. Kiniry, welcomed the crowd which included NSS members Heidi Wastweet and Babette Bloch; and NSS Executive Director Gwen Pier. NSS Board Member Cheryl Newby provided the introduction and Thayer Tolles of the Metropolitan Museum of Art was the Keynote speaker. In addition to her position at Brookgreen Gardens, Salmon is the author of several books on Anna Hyatt Huntington and Brookgreen Gardens.
Anna Hyatt Huntington was known as one of the finest animal sculptors of the Twentieth Century and created work that was placed in public locations throughout the country and around the world as well as museum and private collections. In mid-1931, Huntington along with her husband, Archer, established Brookgreen Gardens, the first public sculpture garden in America and a preserve for native plants and animals.
