Manuel Ferreiro Badia
Ferreiro Badia is a Spanish sculptor who lives in Galicia, in northern Spain. He dedicates his life to art and is married to the also sculptor Docha Rioboo. Senior Technician in Plastic Arts and Design by the Valladolid Art School in 1968, a specialist in sculpture and art medals, he was awarded the Tomás Francisco Prieto Prize from the Spanish Royal Mint, a prize which shares with Chirino, Chillida or Antonio López, among others. Member of the FIDEM, International Art Medal Federation, and the American Numismatic Association. Among the awards received are included the National Prize from the Spanish National Museum of Sculpture, the Purchase Prize from the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition in Australia, the Soho Sculpture Prize in London, UK, or the Honorable Mention from the 4th International Biennial of Medal in Portugal. Ferreiro Badia has held more than 50 individual exhibitions and 75 joint exhibitions, both in Spain and abroad. His work has been displayed in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the USA. His works are included in various museums and institutions such as the Spanish National Museum of Sculpture, the Royal Spanish Mint, the MAC Contemporary Art Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art in Alcala de Henares, the Morgan Lovell Collection in United Kingdom, the Kunstwerk Carlshütte in Germany, or the Town of Cottesloe Sculpture Collection in Australia. Ferreiro Badia has also carried out a large number of public works. We can highlight, among others, the monument to Simon Bolivar (A Coruña), the Monument to the Trovadores (San Simon Island), Pablo Iglesias (A Coruña), Torrente Ballester (University Campus, Ferrol), or the monument to Camilo José Cela (Padron), many of which are great format ones.
