Alan Henderson was born in Calgary, and studied at the Alberta College of Art & Design. In addition to his own work he has taught sculpture at the University of Alberta, acted as a coach and advisor for public art, and modeled figures commercially for a brief time in Spain. In 2011 Henderson’s ‘Light Horse Tales of an Afghan War‘ was first exhibited. The exhibition combined drawings, prints, and sculpture in a variety of materials, retelling the stories of Canadian soldiers returned from Afghanistan. He has installed a number of public works over the years, and was invited to design artwork for parks in Chengdu, which he visited in 2019. Henderson is a 2020 recipient of the Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund. Al Henderson lives in St. Albert, Alberta.
