Austin Weishel is a bronze sculptor based in Loveland, Colorado, with more than twenty-five years of studio practice and over 70 public bronze sculptures installed across the United States. Every piece is hand-sculpted in clay and cast using the traditional lost-wax process at domestic foundries. His commissions have been awarded by municipalities, military commands, law enforcement agencies, and civic foundations. Notable installations include the National Fire Dog Memorial in Washington, D.C., recognized by The Washington Post as one of the city's most popular memorials; the LAPD K9 Memorial at Los Angeles Police Department Headquarters; the 10th Special Forces Group monument at Fort Carson, Colorado; and a series of life-size presidential portraits created for Florida's America's 250th Anniversary program. Prior to his full-time practice, Weishel served thirteen years as a firefighter and EMT. His work has been featured in The Washington Post, NBC Today, and Fox and Friends.
