A resident of CT and Washington, DC for over twenty years has just moved to Palo Alto, CA. She grew up in NYC and the Berkshires surrounded and inspired by her father’s, Frederick Leuchs’, beautiful panels (a noted stained glass artist) and plaster maquettes by her great uncle sculptor Augustus Lukeman (an early member of the NSS.) Growing up her hands were always busy creating and learning about materials. She studied Mechanical Engineering & Art at Stanford University. She initially worked in the foreign manufacturing/design division of Mattel Toys in CA until she moved to Greenwich, CT and was introduced to stone sculpting. She then began to work in plaster, making molds and casting sculptures in bronze. Focused on both small and large pieces, she creates maquettes in her studio and has them cast or fabricated. She welcomes commissioned work. Her direction has developed into a contemporary abstract style exploring human and organic forms with a post modern vent.
