Chris Elizabeth Richards has lived most of her life in North Carolina. In her youth, Chris Elizabeth moved to New York City to pursue a career in classical ballet, studying with The Joffrey. After performing in New York and Europe, she returned to North Carolina where she earned a degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, then an MD from East Carolina University. Richards practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology for 13 years. After a disabling surgical injury to her hand, Chris Elizabeth returned to ECU, where she earned her BFA & MFA in sculpture. She subsequently studied figurative sculpture at The Florence Academy of Art for 2.5 years. Chris Elizabeth’s work has been exhibited regionally, including with the NC Museum of Art and Contemporary Art Museum Raleigh, and can be seen in the permanent collections of Craven Community College, Coastal Carolina Airport, ECU, Community Council for the Arts, Castello di Spannocchia in Siena, Italy, and several private collections.
