Christina Bertsos is a self-taught sculptor using the medium of stone to convey her devotion to Beauty and the human connection it evokes. Through her contemplative inner dialogue with regard to the natural world, the feminine and existence, her sculptures act as messengers to the modern world via this ancient medium.
In 2019 she was awarded an Emerging Artist grant from Creative Pinellas, Largo FL, and was able to realize her dream of carving with Carrara marble in monumental scale for her work, The Graces. Her January 2019 solo exhibition, Coaxing Beauty at WADA, St. Petersburg, FL, attracted local press like Creative Loafing and Tampa Bay Magazine to highlight her works in a variety of stone such as marble, alabaster, calcite and soapstone.
Christina has nurtured a lifelong study of figure drawing and painting, along with an early career as a fashion designer that provided the foundation for her one-of-a-kind works in stone done with the utmost attention to detail.
