I sculpt in bronze – no casting, no fabrication, no assemblage, just an oxy/acetylene torch and bare bronze rods (typically 3/32″ x 36″), manifesting my pieces one molten drop at a time. The concept of the original (as it’s always been with paintings) has never truly existed in bronze sculpture, until now. All of my sculptures are truly original, created in bronze, start to finish (no modeling – no clay, no plaster, etc.), and will always and forever be, one of one. My works are mostly abstract (a few objects here and there, focused on technical challenges), and absolutely lean towards the surreal, taking advantage of the inherent strengths of working strictly in the bronze medium. Interestingly enough, while my father taught me the basics of the torch when i was young, it lay dormant for forty plus years, and now I can’t stop. I’ve done eighteen pieces in 8 months, and have settled in at one or two new pieces every month or so.
