Frances Violante began her artistic career as a professional Interior Designer with a master’s degree in interior design and concentrated studies in art from the University of Connecticut. Having studied sculpting at the University of Hartford, CT, Frances honed her creative artistic talents through several intensive marble sculpture courses in Carrera and Pietrasanta, Italy. Ms. Violante was one of 42 contemporary, international, artists selected by The National Sculpture Society for the 90th Annual Awards Exhibit at Brookgreen Gardens in Pawleys Island, SC. She received awards from the Slater Museum at Norwich Free Academy, (Norwich, CT); The Catharine Lorillard Wolf Art Club, New York City, The Society of Connecticut Sculptors and Lyme Art Association, (Old Lyme CT). Her work is representational as well as abstract. She works in clay, stone, mosaics, and marble with castings in bronze. Ms Violante was the president of the Society of CT Sculptors from 2016 to 2023.
