Creating art is a calling for Heather. The pieces she creates are a product of her vocation. Portraiture, especially in bas relief, is a joy for her. “Capturing a model’s essence is my goal whether a person, flower or animal. What is their quintessence and how to distill it in our fleeting moments together compels me. Their nature, whether found in a young woman, a flower or a dog struggling to retrieve his ball are condensed into their unique elements in my pieces. As a sculptor, I typically work in water-based or oil-based clay to bring my pieces to fruition.”
