After years of professional work as an interior and furniture designer I am now fully immersed in the field of figurative sculpture. While studying sculpture in Belgium and Italy, initially for use in my functional art endeavors, my love of the human form and condition took hold and blossomed. Once I modeled my first figure and was able to emphasize and accentuate its essence, I couldn’t let go. My joy is to sculpt a recorded moment that catches my attention, and that I transform into its own sculptural presence through emotional expressions and gestures.
My work expresses those aspects of life’s dramas that have occupied my mind for a long time, conveying pain from past tragedies, regrets of opportunities lost, but also of survival and of joy in pleasures lived. I am especially appalled and saddened about the plight of our children when exposed to humanity’s inhumanity and folly.
