Heidi Wastweet is a leading American medallist/sculptor specializing in bas-relief, from medals to monuments. She has produced over 1000 coins & medals in conjunction with various mints since 1987. She was the chief engraver for Sunshine Mint for 11 yrs, for Global Minting for 5 yrs, a contract designer for the US Mint for 4 yrs, and is now independent. She is a past President of the American Medallic Sculpture Assoc. and is currently editor of their quarterly publication. She is active in FIDEM, the international organization of Medalists. She served on the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee for the US Mint (2010-2018) and teaches a medal workshop at Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina. Exhibits include Medialia Gallery, NY, and Bellevue Art Museum, WA. Her works are in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian, DC; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; American Numismatic Association, NY; The British Museum, UK; and Brookgreen Gardens, SC. She lives with her husband in San Francisco Bay.
