Honorary Fellow - Fox’s work has received awards from The National Endowment for the Arts, Anonymous was a Woman, The American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the Guggenheim Foundation. She has been a visiting artist at various institutions and conferences in the US and abroad, and is currently a professor and Senior Critic at the New York Academy of Art. She is represented by Nancy Hoffman Gallery in NYC. As an undergraduate, Fox studied biology and sculpture at Yale and Skowhegan. She received an MA in Art History and Conservation from the Institute of Fine Arts at NYU. Studying the ways that various historical styles of representation displayed the beliefs and values of artists and their societies, she recognized a power in human imagery that was untapped at the time. Polychrome statuary of the gothic period inspired her to develop her signature style of precise portraiture and layered color, which she used to shine a contemporary light on specific icons of cultural histories.
