Samuel Kumi (born 1983), is a United States based Ghanaian multidisciplinary artist whose works often manifest as sculptures. Inspired by an array of indigenous narratives, cross-cultural/era discourses and experiences. His prominent feature, which includes hyper realistic rendition of subjects explore the intersection of traditional African forms, conventional sculptural practices and contemporary/global artistic expressions. His practice also provides a new dialectical and conceptual context and direction for the preservation of some of those cultural activities that have seemingly lost their glory or cultural relevance, and hence serves as a reminder to the people of their ancestry history. He received a BFA (Sculpture) with First Class honours from the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. In 2021, he became the recipient of the Best Ghanaian Sculptor Award presented by the Ghana Art and Culture Award (GACA).
