I make my sculpture “not aiming for the illusion of literal truth, but for metaphorical truth, the deeper truth, the truth that sustains and inspires". My sculptures use technologies that allow me freedom to experiment and design with a range of materials including copper, nickel, aluminum, stainless steel, wood, paints and patinas. I use computer software for my modeling. 3D printers and lasers are used to make multiple parts that I assemble into various sculptures, from small to monumental. The subjects of my sculptures are people, animals and mythological symbols. They are covered in words and/or images, using bas-relief, intaglio and cut-out, the latter to be seen through, to reflect their meaning and to define and enhance their physical form. The viewer at first may only marvel at the beauty, intricacy of the design and unique materials. However, by closer examination and concentration, the sculptures can point towards a psychological or spiritual experience.
