Meredith Bergmann creates public monuments and personal sculptures that address the complexities of history, race, human rights, disabilities, and the power of poetry and music. Her public commissions include the 2024 women's monument "Something Is Being Done" for the historic center of Lexington, MA, the 2021 FDR Hope Memorial for Roosevelt Island, NYC, the 2020 Women’s Rights Pioneers Monument for New York’s Central Park, and the 2003 Boston Women’s Memorial on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston’s Back Bay. Her bronze Memorial to September 11th was installed in New York City’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine in 2012, and her portrait bust of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is in the collection of the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. She is a Fellow of the NSS which awarded her the Herbert Adams Memorial Medal for Service to American Sculpture and the Proskauer Prize. She was awarded the Augustus St. Gaudens Award by her alma mater, The Cooper Union.
