My name is Peter Ombasa Okechi, born on December 14, 1994, in Kenya, into a family of sculptors. I have a deep passion for art and work primarily with Kenyan soapstone. My sculpting journey began in 2017, and I significantly honed my skills during the COVID-19 pandemic when movement was restricted. At 29 years old, I am dedicated to both my craft and mentoring young aspiring sculptors, sharing my knowledge and passion with them. My work has gained international recognition, with two of my sculptures being featured at the prestigious National Sculpture Society events in New York, specifically at the 88th and 91st annual exhibitions. This recognition underscores the quality and impact of my art on a global stage. As I continue to create and mentor, I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of my craft and contributing to the rich tradition of Kenyan soapstone sculpting.
