I am a sculptural blacksmith who specializes in combining traditional forging techniques with modern day fabrication to create high detail pieces that celebrate the natural world around us. I get very excited about my work. There is nothing better than being weeks deep into a project and feeling like it has become one with my life. I carry around in progress parts all day, taking them home to stare at in the evenings, and taking them to my other jobs to show off to my coworkers. I'm a slow artist. Most of my sculptures take at least 20 hours, with many blowing past hundreds of hours without me even realizing it. And because of that I feel as if each work is a representation of a part of my life. My largest work to date took me over 2000 hours, and I couldn't be more happy to have a very busy year of my life memorialized forever in this piece that had been waiting to come out of my head for years. I'm rarely impatient with my art, I just keep working on it until it exists.
