Shayne Watkins is a wildlife and western artist based in Deary, ID, specializing in bronze sculpture and scratchboard. He retired from a 27-year career as a forester in 2021, and is enjoying more free time to create art. Together with his wife, Alane, and their two border collies they maintain a rural lifestyle and cherish the seasonal challenges of tending a garden, a fruit orchard, pastures, and their timbered recreation property not far from town. Shayne is an Idaho native with a passion for the natural world. He gleans inspiration from his own outdoor experiences and his family’s heritage for creating his artwork. His mission is to interpret stories through sculpture that honor the past, celebrate the present and inspire the future. His vision is to continue creating authentic, original art that fosters authentic conversations about environmental conservation, encourages deep respect for natural ecosystems, and celebrates our connection to Mother Earth and to each other.
