My ceramic portraits in relief are not traditional. My models now are people who live unsheltered and live in or pass through my town of Ogden, Utah. I hope somehow that my work will serve to change for the better the terribly difficult lives so many of these people have. I am raising awareness with these intimate portraits of people often unseen. An exhibition is scheduled for 2024 and I would like the show to travel shedding light on this population, many of whom are not all that different than you or me.
Go to my website www.suzannestorer.com / Portfolio / People Without Homes to see details of the sculptures pictured here and my commissioned assemblage "Looking To The Future," installed in our local shelter. I was awarded the Proskauer Prize for Non-Traditional Sculpture at the Sculpture Society's 83rd Annual Exhibition. My sculptures appear in Cristina Cordova's recently published text "The Figure In Clay" and are collected by private and public institutions.
