Takeshi Yonezawa is a Japanese-born leather sculptor based in Portland, Oregon. Working exclusively with leather, he creates lifelike sculptures that bridge traditional craftsmanship and contemporary fine art. Inspired by wildlife and Japanese aesthetics, his work focuses on birds of prey and bonsai, translating the strength, movement, and quiet presence of living forms into leather through meticulous observation and hand craftsmanship. His work has been exhibited in the United States and Japan, including Master Leather Carving from North America and Japan: Design and Cultural Influences at the Brinton Museum. He was also selected for Artist Anthology: 40 Creatives of the Pacific Northwest by All Classical Radio. His practice is dedicated to expanding the recognition of leather as a sculptural medium within contemporary fine art.
