Wayne Harrel is an emerging sculptor in Portland, Oregon USA. He gathers local wind-fallen or sawmill-rejected wood and seeks the beauty within. Following the grain, he chisels, gouges, and power-tools maple, cherry, elm, walnut, fir, and cedar, then clarifies with fire, bleach, and natural finishes. Sometimes abstract, other times figurative, each work honors and celebrates the inner life of trees. Before sculpting, Wayne was creative and communications director for a major events company, where he wrote, coached, and directed presentations for national executives. He’s also an award-winning, published, and produced playwright and lyricist, and international storyteller.
