In June 2023, ten sculptors arrived at the New York Academy of Art to participate in the Richard McDermott Miller Competition. They were set with the challange of modeling a bust from life in the time period of only four hours. Watch the time lapse video of the event on YouTube.

This year, a limited number of travel vouchers were available from JetBlue, courtesy of Jet Blue Airlines and Modern Art Foundry / The Robert J. Spring Endowment. Each competitor received a Participation Scholarship which are underwritten by the estate of Charlotte Geffken and by Green-Wood Cemetery.
