Battle of Wills
The Jackson Hole Airport installed Battle of Wills by Bart Walter. The bronze sculpture, commissioned by the Airport Board, is a tribute to the Cowboy State and the citizens of Jackson Hole. It stands at the newly designed airport entrance with the famed Tetons as background. The sculpture is part of the airport’s $1.3 million dollar upgrade.
Bart Walter, when sculpting the monumental piece, took inspiration from the legend of Steamboat, the famous bucking bronco and State logo. At 15′ high and over two tons, Battle of Wills has a buried triangular structure to serve as support and to anchor it to the ground. A 4′ leaping jack rabbit accompanies the sculpture. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on September 14th in conjunction will the Falls Arts Festival, which celebrates art in the Tetons with a variety of programs.
