In April, Gary Lee Price’s Amelia Earhart bench was unveiled at the The Dean Porter Park in Brownsville, TX. The piece is 72 inches long and 52 inches tall, and depicts Earhart in vintage flight gear relaxing on a park bench, gazing skyward. Earhart has a special connection with Brownsville as that was where she earned her pilot’s license in March 1929 and once borrowed a plane from Brownsville’s first airport director, Les Mauldin.
