In April 2025, a new piece of public art, entitled Beguiling Begonias by Geoffrey Nelson, was installed in Capitola California. Created to celebrate the famous Begonia Festival that ran for many years at the lagoon in the beachfront town of Capitola By the Sea, Nelson’s sculpture is a colorful bouquet of three begonias sitting on a square base. Built out of aluminum and steel and coated in transparent paint, the piece radiates color during the day but also illuminates in the evening with color changing internal LED lights.
