NSS Fellow Meredith Bergmann is preparing for the unveiling of two sculptures in Ithaca, NY on August 17, 2024.  The sculptures honor Frances Perkins and Lucy Brown, both of whom pioneered to bring about change and empowered women’s rights and social justice movements locally and nationally. Frances Perkins was an American workers-rights advocate who served as the fourth United States Secretary of Labor from 1933 to 1945; and Lucy Brown was a co-founder of the Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services and a lifelong social justice advocate. The sculptures are still under wraps until the grand unveiling by Bergmann, in conjunction with the Ithaca Historic Statues Steering Committee, in mid-August.
