Mico Kaufman (1924-2016)
It is with sadness that we share the news that our colleague, Mico Kaufman, passed away on Monday evening, December 12th. Kaufman became an elected member of National Sculpture Society in 1968, a Fellow in 1987. Much of his artistic work was focused on numismatic art, both coin and medal. He completed medallic commissions and Presidential and Vice-Presidential Inaugural Medals for Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George H. Bush. Read more about Kaufman’s life and work here. In early 2016, Kaufman published a biography, A Chiseler’s True Story: The Art of Mico Kaufman.
