Nilda Comas, FNSS
Nilda Comas was an honoree at this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC in early June. Comas, who was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is currently a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, was recognized for her achievements in the art world and as an exemplary Puerto Rican Master Sculpture. She was named an Ambassador, draped with a sash, and rode a convertible up Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Comas’ marble carving of Educator and Civil Rights Activist, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, is part of the permanent collection of the National Statuary Hall in Washington, DC.
