NSS Responds to Black Lives Matter
Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, the National Sculpture Society is listening. We are committed to leveraging our voice in support of equality, and to doing the necessary work to be more inclusive as an organization and actively fight against blatant and systemic racism. Art is an international language and sculpture is profoundly personal and public. As shared spaces around the world strive to reflect the best of our collective humanity, we invite a renewed discourse to reimagine the statues commissioned for public and private remembrance, commemoration, enjoyment, and enlivenment.
Since our founding in 1893, the NSS has been a vital force to promote excellence in sculpture. Part of the privilege of being a sculptor is the ability to create work that can inspire humans to be better. Please join us in helping to create a more equitable future that better serves all artists.
