RTIA Show Wrap Up with Photos
National Sculpture Society (NSS) in partnership with Reno Tahoe International Art Show (RTIA) presented the Northern & Southern California Community Exhibition at the RTIA Show in Reno, NV. The show featured the work of nearly a dozen NSS Community members from California, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Arizona and was on view from September 14 – 17.
Coordinated by NSS Northern California Community Representative Lance Glasser, the show featured work in a variety of media and sizes — including monumental — inside the 95,000 square foot exhibition space. NSS Fellow Heidi Wastweet served as curator for the show.
The NSS Ambassador Community Program is an initiative that is helping the organization reach an expanded audience of sculptors across the country on a grass roots level. Each community serves as a resource for NSS members, interested artists, and the public. Ambassadors are the primary contact for each NSS Community, in collaboration with the NSS offices in New York City. Each ambassador reaches out to local sculptors and helps facilitate communication and opportunities for the members of their group. Ambassadors also share information about NSS programs, such as educational workshops and classes, exhibitions, publications, prizes and awards, and other opportunities that encourage sculptors and promote sculpture.
Artists included in the RTIA Show are Joo-Hee Bae, Claudette Bleijenberg, Mario Chiodo, Lance Glasser, Jennifer Johnson, Ron McBride, Kate Mikhailov, Deanna Rae C. Montero, Moana Ponder, Heather Rison and Cynthia Siegel.
The RTIA Show entered its second edition in 2023, doubling its inaugural footprint for a weekend-long celebration of fine art and sculpture, bespoke furniture, film and music. The RTIA Show is unique to Reno Tahoe, showcasing local talent alongside national and international galleries, independent artists and sculptors from across the country. Special features for 2023 include the Art City Invitationals with Carmel-by-the-Sea, Park City, Sedona and more, the First Nations, Indigenous Peoples Pavilion, the Welcome lobby featuring the National Sculpture Society and Cool Classic car collection and the ‘Post Playa Art’ Burning Man Sculpture exhibition. The RTIA Show presents various programs throughout the weekend, including the RTIA Talks panel schedule, the RTIA Awards Gala, live demonstrations and film programming by Cordillera International Film Festival.
