In 2015, the Community Foundation of Hancock County embarked upon a mission to address a deficit in kindergarten literacy readiness. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is an early childhood literacy program. It provides a new, high-quality, age-appropriate book to the enrollee every month. Books are delivered to the home and in the child’s name. More than 2,600 children representing every Hancock County zip code, are currently enrolled in this incredible program and more than 1,700 current graduates in this birth – age five program.
