Wesley Wofford, FNSS
On March 23, Wesley Wofford’s Sowing the Seeds of the Future was unveiled in Franklin, NC. The monument honors Na-Ka Rebecca Morris, a Cherokee woman; Harriet Timoxena Siler Sloan, a pioneer woman; and Salley, an enslaved woman; all linked by a specific piece of property on the Little Tennessee River in Macon County. The three women are part of 20 planned sculptures for the Women’s History Trail which winds through Franklin, NC. Sowing the Seeds of the Future was six years in the making and the unveiling coincided with the opening of Franklin’s Women’s History Park.
