CREATIVE RETREAT AT CHESTERWOOD
Two to four-week creative residencies with option to include a private studio from July – September 2023
The Meadowlark is a charming, rustic cottage secluded in the woods at Chesterwood, the summer home, studio and gardens of one of the most prominent American Renaissance sculptors (and NSS founding member) Daniel Chester French (1850-1931). Originally French’s “little studio” it’s main room features a large northern skylight, and the original casting room is now a small kitchen. There is one bedroom upstairs and one downstairs (both queen beds), one bathroom, a large living/dining/work area, a large deck with a table, chairs and umbrella. Amenities include air conditioning, free WIFI, and a complimentary pass to take a guided tour of Chesterwood. A spacious private studio with an industrial sink, AC/heating, located in the heart of the Chesterwood campus, is also available for an extra fee. Chesterwood is located in Stockbridge, MA, surrounded by the Berkshire Hills and close to major cultural organizations such as Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, MassMOCA and The Clark Art Institute.
NSS Member Sculptor’s Rate: $750 week ($107 night) + ($250 Private Studio/per week)
Art Lover’s Rate: $1000 week ($142 night) + ($250 Private Studio/per week)
Cleaning fee: $90
