On February 5, California Edition will open at the Bonita Museum in California.

The exhibition features thirty-eight artworks by members of the Northern and Southern California Communities of National Sculpture Society. The NSS Ambassador Program is an initiative that is helping the organization reach an expanded audience of sculptors across the country on a grass roots level. Each community serves as a resource for NSS members, interested artists, and the public. Ambassadors are the primary contact for each NSS Community, in collaboration with the NSS offices in New York City. They help facilitate communication amongst the members of their communities and organize meetings and events with the group. Ambassadors share information about the National Sculpture Society and its various programs, such as educational workshops and classes, exhibitions, publications, prizes and awards, and other opportunities that encourage sculptors and promote sculpture.

The exhibition documents moments in time during the last two years with thoughtful works including a portrait of our first female Vice President Kamala Harris by San Marcos artist Marsha Brook.  The spirit of California is exemplified by San Diego artist Mark Edward Adams Young Bear Walking and Encinitas sculptor James Nelson presents Carlos, a portrait of a young person lost in thought and contemplation.  The diversity of material and subject matter includes artworks in bronze, clay, ceramic, wood and resin, featuring animal and human portraiture as well as fantasy and sea based subject matter. The Jury of Selection included Richard Becker, NSS; Nilda Comas, NSS; and Wendy Wilson-Gibson, Director of the Bonita Museum.

A Jury of Awards will meet at a later date to decide the four prizes totaling over $1,300.
