In mid-August, NSS Elected Member Susie Chisholm’s sculptures of Coach John and Joan McKissick were installed in Summerville, SC.  The life-size bronze of Summerville’s beloved couple is located at McKissick Football Stadium in the Charleston-neighboring town. Coach McKissick was the winningest football coach at any level in the United States with 623 wins in his career and his wife, Joan, supported him, the football program, and attended every game.  A plaque placed beside the base of the statue credits the McKissicks with helping the high school team achieve ten state championships and sums up their importance to Summerville residents, the community, and local history. Although John McKissick passed away in 2019, Joan and their daughter Debbie were on hand for the unveiling.
