Sam Davis, Maia Williamson & Heather Personett
Sam Davis and Maia Williamson are Grand Central Atelier’s newest Sculpture Program Co-Directors. They take the position formerly held by Heather Personett, NSS’ two-time Richard McDermott Miller Competition winner (2022 & 2024). In the fall of 2025, Personett will take a sculpture teaching position at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in New Lyme, CT. “We plan to tap into the intensity, dedication and fire that characterized our experience with the sculpture program and to explore the core principles of our curriculum with the next generation of sculpture students,” says Davis and Williamson. “Our mission is to take any student, and through a close observation of nature and a comprehensive understanding of form and anatomy, transform them into skilled and confident figurative sculptors who can take on any project they desire, from armature, to clay, to mold, cast and finish.” Davis was the second place winner in both the 2023 & 2024 RMM Competition and Williamson won a Fantasy Fountain Fund grant from NSS in the 2024 Young Sculptors Exhibition in which Davis was also an exhibitor.
