Emily Bedard, FNSS
Emily Bedard’s National Desert Shield Desert Storm Memorial will be unveiled to the public on Saturday October 24, 2026, at the corner of Constitution Ave & 23rd St in Washington, DC. The memorial honors the veterans who served and sacrificed in the first Gulf War and will be dedicated in the 35th anniversary year of the conflict. “Last week, I met with our design team to begin setting the nighttime lighting across my bas-reliefs,” says Bedard. “One of the most exciting aspects for me of this memorial is the way light moves across it throughout the day, and I am particularly pleased with the effects created in the twilight hours, as the sun sets and the lights come on. It is the vision of the National Desert Shield Desert Storm Memorial Association, of which it has been an honor for me to help realize.”
