Heather Personett Wins Salmagundi Club Library Portrait Competition
In June, the Salmagundi Club announced Heather Personett as the winner of the Salmagundi Library Sculpture Competition. The New York City art club wanted to celebrate its 150th anniversary and sent out a call to artists to create a bust of one of their famous past members. Personett’s submission of Augustus Saint Gaudens will be turned into a bronze bust and will be displayed in the Smith Library from February 2023 through April 2023 along with the other 9 finalists. Other finalists included NSS Fellow Kate Brockman for her portrait of N.C. Wyeth and NSS Associate Susan Wakeen for her bust of William Merritt Chase, NSS Elected Member Zoe Dufour and NSS Associate Erik Ebeling for their individual portraits of Augustus Saint Gaudens . Personett, who teaches sculpture at Grand Central Atelier recently won the Richard McDermott Miller Sculpture Competition during National Sculpture Society’s June Sculpture Weekend at Chesterwood in the Berkshires.
