In September, Jay F. Coleman’s sculpture of Malcolm X, titled Malcolm the Educator, was unveiled outside the newly modernized Malcolm X Elementary School in Washington, D.C. The life-size bronze of the civil rights activist sits on a bench with a book in hand welcoming students to join him.  Ambassador Attallah Shabazz, the eldest daughter of Malcolm X, spoke at the opening event and reflected on her father’s legacy.
