NSS Fellow Jim Licaretz won the 2023 American Medal of the Year Award.  His bonded bronze medal of Volodymyr Zelensky was the winning entry.  Licaretz created the medal in a 3-D printer, then a mold was made and the 3″ medals were then cast in bonded bronze.  One side of the medal bears a portrait of the Ukrainian Freedom Fighter and the reverse contains a quote from his speech made to the world shortly after the invasion of Russia in Ukraine.

Two other medals were honored as finalists:  Days of Silence – Nights of Song by Jeremiah D. Welsh, NSS (for Brookgreen Gardens) and Hydroponic by Jeffrey Briggs, NSS.
