Janice Mauro
Janice Mauro is part of an exhibition at Silvermine Galleries. “The Power of Love” opened on February 14 and runs through March 13, 2026 at the New Canaan, CT gallery.
Mauro recently reflected on her residency in Gloucester, MA, stating, “In 2025, I was the Walker Hancock Sculptor-in-Residence at Manship Artist Residency. I imagine the most important experience for an artist is for the work to be understood and revered. It is I who has changed during this residency, an epiphany really. The genuine interest from the visitors to discover the deepest level of meaning from the sculpture I was creating and from the sculptures I brought with me, changed my creative energy. I am now more curious, more willing to open the gateway of my mind and to let the work speak for itself.”
While there, Mauro worked on a carved walnut relief, 43″ high x 12″ wide.

The Walker Hancock Sculptor-in-Residence is an artist-in-residence program between the National Sculpture Society and Manship Artists Residency. Mauro gave an artist talk and wood-carving demonstrations during her two-week residency. A film by Ken Kinna and Joan Boivin documents her time there. VIEW ON YOUTUBE
