In late September, a sandhill crane sculpture titled New Heights by NSS Elected Member Gary Staab was dedicated in a ceremony at Grand Island Public Library in Nebraska.  The sculpture depicting a flock of sandhill cranes in flight is mounted on a pedestal and located in front of the library entrance.  Staab, a native Nebraskan,  helped fund the sculpture and generously donated his time and labor in its creation. “It’s very exciting since this is the library I went to as a child,” Staab said. “Cranes are such a big part of the history of Nebraska and it’s a privilege to work on this project.”
