Paige Bradley, FNSS

NSS Fellow Paige Bradley won 2nd Place at California Art Club’s Spring Awakenings online exhibition. Her bronze La Niña took the coveted prize which Bradley named after the strong trade winds that upset meteorological patterns.  “Like the weather event called La Niña, the irony of the name ‘little girl’ often is synonymous with global change and unpredictable affects stemming from those changes,” says Bradley. “Change is a necessary part of growth and forward motion. But it’s not always forward growth, is it? From politics to plagues, liberations and inventions, scientific advancements to artificial intelligence, we must be wiser than smarter. The monarch butterfly is a reminder of how delicate it all is to keep things in harmony to avoid catastrophe. When we finally see the error of our ways, humanity often overcorrects, and we plunge into another kind of disaster. La Niña is about consequences and Newton’s crucial realization that with ‘every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”  The show is on view on the California Art Club website through June 19.
