Romolo Del Deo

Seven established artists, who received the Lorenzo il Magnifico Award from the Florence Biennale, are going to exhibit their works in the Basilica of Santa Croce, Florence.  The artists represent the seven nations gathering in Florence at the end of March 2017 for the G7 of Culture – the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, France, Germany and Italy respectively.  The honor of representing the United States of America has been awarded to Romolo Del Deo.  Del Deo is exhibiting three bronze sculptures that give shape to ‘fragments of memory’ and explore the idea that the past haunts the present.

Del Deo studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy and at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 2000, for his contribution to the arts, Del Deo received the President’s Award from Harvard University. The Henry Moore Foundation and the New York Foundation for the Arts have also recognized Del Deo’s sculpture.
